My presentation explores representations of the DMZ in South Korean films and literature for young readers. I show
how these materials make manifest the dialectic of wartime palimpsest and ecological haven. I argue that, on one level,
DMZ literature elides thorny issues around the cost of South Korea’s economic development, its precarious security
situation, and its implication in the economies of East Asia. On the other hand, the materials’ visual grammar exposes
their unwitting entry into a multiplicity of meaning, signaling a path towards “reconciliation without truth” on the
Korean peninsula.

本セミナーでは、韓国の児童向け映画や文学で非武装地帯（DMZ）がどのように表現されてきたかについて論じる。
これらの表現が、戦時中の文書とその後の野生の楽園としての状況とをどのように止揚させてきたかを示す。非武装地帯を描く文学はある面で、韓国の経済発展の重荷、不安定な安全保障、東アジア経済への影響といった困難とは無関係である。
その一方、資料の視覚表現には、朝鮮半島の「真実なき和解」への道筋を示す、多義的な意味への無意識の参入が示されている。
