CESE calls for applicants from the doctorate students in the School of Education to encourage young researchers to conduct research projects with diverse perspectives. We support five research projects this year under the topic of “School Education in the Globalization Era”.
The progress report seminar of the research projects was held on December 10, 2015 and attended by 20 participants. This year’s research covers diverse themes and approaches such as “Action research on teachers toward “New Comer” foreign children,” “The diversification and justice in the university entrance examination of medical schools in Japan,” “How elementary school teachers design lessons with collaborative learning?,” “Rethinking the possibility of school education as “social” under the era of globalization,” and “The relationship between multiple-university enrollment and the career orientation of students in Cambodia.”
There was feedback to the presenters on the content of research and also how to improve the presentation to prepare for a final international seminar in Stockholm in February. Such comments include to include background information of Japanese education system to clarify the context of research, try be selective to present the main points on argument rather explain the whole research paper, and try to make attractive presentation by inserting table and images. The young researchers are expected to revise their presentation and papers based on the feedback provided and present at the international seminar in Stockholm.
